The first thing that caught my eye in your presentation was all of the cut down trees in a pile. It's hard to believe that so many trees are cut down just for farming or expansion. I liked how your presentation had lots of pictures of deforestation, especially the picture with "the lungs of earth", because it really shows how deforestation is not good for the environment in many ways. Like my presentation, yours stresses the problem of how deforestation is affecting animals greatly. You could have elaborated more on the causes of deforestation, so we can begin to brainstorm ideas to put an end to deforestation. Overall, your presentation can make one think about what we can do about deforestation and how we can stop it.
My first reaction to this post was shock and anxiety as I realized that this issue is of major effect to the Earth and is rapidly growing; I had no idea that the problem of deforestation was of such magnitude. I was appalled at the projected 50 million acres of forest to be lost in just ten years. I also couldn't help feeling powerless to prevent the growth of this problem. The image of a massive, damaged forest shaped like a pair of lungs resonated intensely with me, and really made me consider the colossal impact of rampant deforestation. Deforestation is in direct connection to the widespread matter of land pollution. Land pollution contributes considerably to deforestation in damaging the terrain and wildlife. One thing that I felt could be discussed in greater depth was the consequences of deforestation. How does deforestation result in soil erosion? How is "life quality" defined?
After looking through your presentation, I was blown away by the statistics you provided on slide 11. It's stunning and horrifying enough that, every minute, 10 acres of forest are lost. However, to think that in 10 years, over 50 million acres of precious forest that play a gigantic part in holding Earth's atmosphere together, I can't help but wonder if stopping the processes of deforestation is completely hopeless. I love the images you placed on each slide, as they emphasized the facts and what you were saying. My research topic was global warming, and deforestation is a topic that I had to cover a little bit as well. Forests help to prevent the ozone layer from deteriorating. Global warming is increasing more and more, with no help from the deforestation of the forests here on Earth.
